2008 Regional World Language Declamation Contest

Dear Colleagues:
The 2008 Regional World Language Declamation Contest will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at East High School.
Students will be able to compete in poetry recitation, impromptu speaking, improvisational dialogues and culture trivia.
We will also offer the usual poster contest, whose theme will be:
"Be Multilingual -- See the World Differently"
Poster entries will be due in Angie Nishimura's room 212, East High, second floor of the Benson Building on or before Friday, February 1, 2008 .
Guidelines for the poster contest are included in the updated rulebook.
Every participating student (including poster contest participants) will need to complete and turn in a signed three-part activity participation permission form prior to the contest. These forms are available in your activities office. Please keep eligibility in mind when selecting participants! Please review all requirements in the rulebook.
The top competitors at the regional contest in poetry, impromptu, dialogues and culture will go on to compete at the ASAA/First National Bank 2008 State World Language Contest at East High School on Saturday, February 23, 2008. For that contest, ASAA will need a master eligibility list and alpha roster of all participants from your school. Additional information is available on the ASAA website:

As for the poetry contest, all poetry will remain the same as for the 2007 contests. (Contact Chris Rees if you need copies of any poetry).
The registration deadline for the regional contest will be Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Expect to receive registration forms in December.
